208 | Valerian, Len Wein And True Believers

No Dallas, no Rook, so it is a given that Al and Don start off topic and go well over the time limit. Comics & Stuff in Tampa, Valerian And Laureline: On The Frontiers, Hugh Hefner and his interest in comics, the large shadow cast by Len Wein, a band called The Move and Jack Kirby’s 100th finish everything out.

  1. Valerian was great, Luc Besson one of my favorite directors, producers ,writers with films like Angel-A, The Big Blue, From Paris with Love, The Family, and many others. I was able to see Valerian in 3D at our local Dollar Cinema (which is $4 bucks a person for 3D and 2 bucks for regular screenings)
Hearing the band Move was cool I love ELO you can differentially hear the beginning of ELO in that song.
I’m a huge fan of the True Believers line of comics $1 reprints of great issues, there great to have or to give to someone else who you’d like to introduce comics to

  2. Of course you liked Valerian, it’s great movie! Luc Besson is always good.

You can thank Al for bringing The Move for the musical spotlight. I had only heard the name before this. I liked the song.

The True Believers line of comics were a fantastic idea, but they flew off the shelves way too fast.

  3. The Move is a band that I hadn’t listened to much before. They went from a 60’s pop band to hard rockers to eventually ELO. Roy Wood was the main creative force behind the Move and Jeff Lynne joined towards the end of the band. Some cool music was created. They never got much, if any, airplay in the US. Definitely a cult band.

ELO of course went on to sell 200 million records after Roy Wood left the band after the first record.
