  1. Hi!
The artist you can’t recall who worked with Bill Everett on The Cat #3 was Paty Greer, who you’re more familiar with as the wife of Dave Cockrum. She worked for Marvel from 1973 to 1991.
The Cat #1 was very nearly the last work Wally Wood ever did for Marvel (the actual last was the cover for Daredevil #164). Another person you could have suggested for inking Giant-Size Creatures #1 would be Reed Crandall, who was working for Warren and Western at the time. He provided that reprint from Creatures on the Loose #13 you saw in GSC.
    Keep up the good work!

    • Hi Darci,

Thanks for the info on Paty Greer. It was a lot of fun to read all those issues Of The Cat, Tigra And Hell-Cat. This was one of our favorite shows. We actually missed some appearances of The Cat/Hellcat/Tigra in Spidey Super Stories #12, #21 and #39 and The Defenders too I believe.

Reed Crandall would have been an excellent choice for an inker on Giant-Size Creatures #1. I believe he was out of comics at the time (1974) due to health issues. Tom Palmer or Dick Giordano inks on GSC #1 might have been nice….

      Thanks for listening and writing!

      Don and Al

P.S. By the way, how did you find us?

  2. Another missing appearance of Tigra was Marvel Premiere #42, which recapped her origin and showed the death of Dr. Tumolo. You might get a kick out of that one, as either the writer or the letterer misremembered Greer’s name and put it in the book as Greer Garson. Another appearance in Marvel Team-Up was in #125, which showed the surprise reappearance of Zabo. Tigra also had a self-titled 4-issue mini-series for Marvel Icons in 2002.

Hellcat transitioned directly from the Avengers #150 to Defenders #44. She was in every issue of Defenders for a long, long time after that.

I use a search engine named DuckDuckGo, which found your site when I was searching for Greer Nelson. I run that search every few months, to see if there’s anything new being said about my favorite character.
    Thanks!

  3. Yes, see West Coast Avengers #s 14 and 15 (Nov and Dec 1986). The WCA called in Daimon and Patsy for help in #14, and (since Greer temporarily couldn’t turn into Tigra) Patsy lent the Hellcat costume to Greer in #15. Essential reading, but definitely introduces continuity problems. Steve Englehart either didn’t remember The Cat series correctly, or he was determined to revise it to suit his own preferences. (See also WCA #6 for his version of Greer’s story.)
    Hope this helps!

    • Yes it does help. I started wondering if the two had ever met up since learning that The Cat and Hellcat were two different characters. More looking up to do.

As far as each creator not remembering what the one before had done, that seems to be something that occurs quite a bit with Greer Nelson. Never-the-less I still love the character.

Thank you very much for the comments and information Darci.
